ACQUISITION BRIEF / 21 OCT 2026 CDT

2019 KUBOTA

L25014WD / HYDROSTATIC / LA525 LOADER

Buy it to work.
Bid lower to flip.

A plausible acreage tractor with visible wear. At a $9,000 bid, budget about $14,900 ready to use in Tyler. At that price, resale profit is essentially gone.

01 / CONDITION EVIDENCE

Service and wear,
with mechanical unknowns.

Reviewed the inspection report and 19 selected photos from the 105-image gallery, including controls, engine area, tires, loader joints and implements. The images below are the actual auction photographs.

WHAT TO BUDGET

WHAT THE PHOTO CANNOT PROVE

INSPECTOR REPORTED

Engine started and ran; no dripping oil leaks observed. Drivetrain, hydraulics, PTO and brakes functioned during limited testing. Loader cylinder, tilt-linkage and coupler-to-arm pins showed some movement. Box blade has worn sides and a weld repair.

NOT ESTABLISHED

Hot HST performance under load, hydraulic pressure/drift, full 4WD/differential-lock operation and loaded PTO output. Quick coupler was not operationally checked. No oil analysis. IronClad Assurance covers report accuracy within its terms; it is not a mechanical warranty.

Listing calls the tractor L2501D; the photographed HST selector and treadle support hydrostatic configuration. Serial 88973 is listing-reported. The meter photo reads approximately 927.6 hours; actual lifetime hours and maintenance history are unverified. Still photographs cannot quantify pin clearances or certify structural condition.

02 / RECOMMISSIONING BUDGET

Allow $2,400 before use.

Planning range $1,300–$4,000 if the engine, HST and major hydraulics are healthy. Inspect first; replace worn parts according to measured condition.

Total allowance$1,300$2,400$4,000

Analyst allowances, not a shop quote. Includes ordinary parts tax, supplies and paid independent-shop labor, with roughly $100–$140/hour used for planning. The range assumes no major drivetrain failure, loader line-boring or full tire-set replacement; such findings require a new estimate. Independent pre-purchase inspection is a separate $250 allowance.

Parts-price anchors and budget methodPublished prices + estimating assumptions

Messick's lists Kubota Super UDT2 at about $41/gallon or $95/2.5 gallons. Kubota's HST specifications show roughly 6.2 gallons transmission capacity, so a complete fluid change is a meaningful cost before filters and labor. Service scope depends on records and the operator's manual. Fluid prices → · Kubota specifications →

Coleman's LA525 catalog lists example pins at about $10–$43 each and a cylinder seal kit around $143. Those prices do not include diagnosis, removing seized pins, machining worn bores or resealing labor. Confirm loader serial and exact part numbers. No leaking cylinder is assumed merely because a seal kit exists. LA525 parts catalog →

03 / MARKET EVIDENCE

A $15,000 sale is the
working exit, not a promise.

$14,000–$16,000 expected private-sale range after service and successful testing, including loader and box blade. A hurried or poorly documented sale could be nearer $12,000–$13,500.

How the range was chosen: hydrostatic drive and the included box blade help, while 927 indicated hours, faded finish, documented wear and private-sale terms pull value below low-hour dealer stock. The auction result provides a useful cash-market check.

Confidence: moderate to low. No closely matched, verified 900-hour HST retail transaction was found. The $14k–$16k range is a judgment from imperfect comparisons, not an automated appraisal. The included implements are already counted; do not add their value again.

04 / PERSONAL USE VS. RESALE

The bid is only
the first number.

Start with a $9,000 example bid. This is a scenario, not the live bid. Adjust the assumptions to compare ready-to-use cost with potential resale profit.

$1,000$20,000

Also includes 10% buyer fee (minimum $100), $250 inspection, and $500 selling/short-term holding costs for a flip. Cash purchase; no financing. Tax applies to bid plus buyer fee in this conservative model.

Maximum bid for $2,500 cash profit: about $6,500.

Maximum bid for a $15,500 ready-to-use budget: about $9,500.

Cash margin before income tax and your time. Repair contingency is reserved cash; unused amounts improve the result. Personal-use cost excludes future fuel, maintenance, insurance and depreciation.

Transport: reserve $1,200–$1,800, base $1,500, for a carrier with suitable ramps. This is a planning allowance for the northeast Mississippi to East Texas trip, not a carrier quote. Confirm the exact pickup address, loaded dimensions, ballast/weight and destination. Tyler is carried forward from the prior evaluation. Published tractor-hauling context →

Tax: IronPlanet says Mississippi tax applies. Ordinary MS sales tax is 7%; Texas allows credit for tax paid to another state and can impose additional use tax. The model reserves 8.25% total, not 7% plus 8.25%. Actual destination, delivery and invoice treatment determine the bill. No farm or resale exemption is assumed; personal acreage maintenance alone does not establish eligibility. MS rates → · TX credit/use tax → · TX agricultural eligibility →

Fee boundaries: listing schedule is 10% (minimum $100) for final prices up to $30,000; calculator is limited to $20,000. Assumes wire payment and prompt pickup. Credit-card charges, financing, late/storage charges and additional implements are excluded. A qualifying tax exemption improves economics only after documentation is accepted.

$9,000$14,867$15,367-$367
$12,000$18,439$18,939-$3,939

At a $9,000 bid, a $7,500 repair stress allowance raises ready-to-use cost to $19,967 and produces a $5,467 loss at $15,000 resale. At the $6,500 flip bid, a $13,000 quick sale leaves only $610. A small repair surprise can erase the target margin.

05 / PERSONAL-USE FIT

Useful on acreage.
Respect its size.

The HST is convenient for loader work and frequent direction changes. Value comes from matching the machine to the job, not just buying below a dealer's asking price.

A good fit for

Maintaining a gravel drive with the included box blade, moving mulch/soil, light grading, and suitable small PTO implements. A 540-rpm PTO and Category I three-point hitch offer attachment flexibility.

Budget separately for a cutter, forks, grapple/third function or trailer. Those are not included in the listed package.

Reasons to buy more tractor

Frequent heavy pallet handling, major stump/land clearing or larger power-hungry implements. Kubota rates the HST at about 19 PTO hp.

The LA525 factory chart shows about 1,082 lb at the pivot / 820 lb at 500 mm forward at full height. These are chart values, not usable pallet payload; attachment weight, load center, ballast and conditions matter. Factory loader chart →

Personal-use ceiling of $9,500 corresponds to about $15,462 ready to use under the working assumptions. Above that, the auction uncertainty becomes harder to justify against locally inspectable alternatives. Compare actual delivered, tax-inclusive alternatives before bidding higher.

06 / BUYING DECISION

Personal use: conditional yes.
Resale: only at a low bid.

For use: target $8,000–$9,000; stop at $9,500 once inspection and hauling are confirmed. Without a proper loaded test, reduce the bid or pass rather than spending the full ceiling.

For a flip: cap around $6,500 for a roughly $2,500 target margin. At $9,000, the base model loses money. Do not rely on low-hour dealer asking prices to make the numbers work.

Inspection findings can lower either bid limit.

Resolve these before committing

  1. Cold start, then work it hot. Check smoke, blow-by, coolant/oil and leaks. Test HST in each range, 4WD/differential lock, brakes and PTO with appropriate load.
  2. Measure loader wear. Check hydraulic pressure/drift, pin clearance and attachment points. Operate both quick-coupler locks and inspect hoses, cylinder rods and welds.
  3. Check running costs and identity. Inspect all tire sidewalls/treads, fluids and service records; verify serial, ownership paperwork and included attachments.
  4. Get written logistics. Seller reports no loading dock, ramps or forklift. Carrier must bring suitable loading equipment. Pickup needs a 24-hour appointment and release document.
  5. Resolve conflicting removal terms. Item text says 30 days; shipping text says 8 business days before storage charges. Plan to the earlier deadline until IronPlanet clarifies in writing. Listed payment due date is October 29.
